Caroline Ann Keliihuli Keliihoomalu, 71, of Hilo, died Dec. 2 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born Dec. 24, 1939, in Mokuhulu, Kalapana,s he was a retired kupuna for the state Department of Education and member of Glad Tidings Church in Hilo; Hale O Na Alii and Alu Like’s Kupuna Program (Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna).

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Famiy requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Shirley (Leslie) Doctor, of Pahoa; sons, Wayne (Gloria) Nomura and Douglas (Katja) Nomura, both of Honolulu, Glenn (Mamo) Nomura, of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Kaimi (Marita Thome) Hilongo, of Hilo; sister, Charlotte Keliihoomalu-Alapai, of Hilo; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marion Rich

Marion Christina Rich, 90, of Kapaau, died Jan. 5 at her residence. Born Dec. 9, 1921, in Newark, N.J., she was a retired bookkeeper and owner of the former Don’s Family Deli, member of Kalahikiola Congregational Church, Kohala Senior Citizens and Kohala Hospital Auxiliary.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 at Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Kapaau for a service.

She is survived by son, Donald Rich, of Kapaau; brother, Carl Teschke, of New Jersey; sister, Nancy Collis, of Florida; one grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Janis Omori

Janis “Babe” Makalapua Omori, 63, of Captain Cook, died Dec. 3 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 21, 1948, in Kealakekua, she was a supervisor at the Macadamia Nut Factor, an employee of Mrs. Field’s Cookie Co., Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Farm and member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Jan. 21 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church for a Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Lawrence Omori, of Napoopoo; sons, Larryjason (Kelly) Omori, of Holualoa, Troy (Nalani) Omori, of Kealia; sisters, Barbara Parish and Sonja (Jerome) Kalili, both of Honaunau, Jennifer (Oscar) Friels, of Kailua-Kona; five grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cynthia Ann Watanabe, 49, of Hilo, died Jan. 14. Born in Chicago, she was a homemaker and member of Hilo Missionary Church.

Joanne Michele Carvalho, 56, of Kapaau, died Jan. 11 at home. Born Sept. 23, 1955, in Hilo, she was a licensed practical nurse for Kohala Hospital and Hilo Medical Center; a nurse for Dr. Gerrit Ludwig, Ernest E. Sakamoto, D.D.S., and Earl E. Bakken; and member of the Kuikahi Baptist Church in Kapaau.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 at Landmark Baptist Church in Kapaau for an 11 a.m. service. Luncheon follows at the Carvalho residence in Kapaau An urn committal will be at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at Mauna Kea Memorial Park in Papaikou. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

Martha Masae Hashimoto , 64, of Los Angeles, formerly of Pepeekeo, died Jan. 4 at her residence. She was a retired self-employed hair dresser.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at Fukui Mortuary in Los Angeles.

She is survived by husband, Melvin Hashimoto, of Los Angeles; son, Stuart (Gabriela) Hashimoto, of Los Angeles; daughters, Terry (Patrick Garcia) Hashimoto, of Los Angeles, Lynn (Brian Roberts) Hashimoto, of Washington; brothers, Royden Kimoto, of Honolulu, Stanley Kimoto, of California, Rodney Kimoto; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives in Hawaii.

Nemesia Mabasa Ordonez, 79, of Kalopa, died Jan. 12 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1932, in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a retired farm hand at Kahua Ranch and member of King’s Chapel First Assembly of God in Honokaa.

Luisa Valdez Riingen, 76, of Keaau, died Dec. 17 at the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu . Born in Aga Magsaysay, Isabela, the Philippines, she was a hand harvester with the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co., a harvester for the former Puna Papaya and member of the Crusaders of the Divine Church of Christ.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Jan. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Final services and burial will occur in the Philippines at a later date. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers omitted.
